This is a short episode due to the holidays and my inability to move out of Grouch mode. Ok, I'm not a total grouch, just the freaking music all the time. 

Bah, humbug.

The main point I wan to say take time for yourself, be kind to yourself and keep your anxiety tool kit handy.

What causes a panic attack?

Some say bio-chemistry, some say certain people are genetically pre-wired for a panic attacks.

Some of the known causes could be from abuse, trauma, substance abuse, life changes or another health problem.

In this episode, a quick review of panic attack symptoms, some grounding tools and a couple of things to do when you body muscles tense up.

Speaking of tensing up, I'm coming down with a cold. You will have no doubt when you hear the episode.

It is a simple breathing exercise with some tips on how to get back to center or at least a tolerable state of being.

I did make a mistake in the episode, the Self Help Workbook is from the Department of Veteran Affairs, not the state of Virginia. This is what happens when you are sleep deprived.

For some of us with an anxiety condition it is a short detour, it gets resolved.

Just want to put that out there because not everybody gets depression the same way and there are different treatments. This is not a show about treating conditions like biochemical depression or some forms of PTSD.

For those conditions you will need the support of medical professionals. This show is more focused on the voice in many people's heads that is hyper-critical. There are some organic, mechanical and mental skills that can help to shut the hater up.

It is more about building a toolkit of resources when the voice is obnoxious. It is about deflating that power to attack you at a vulnerable point.

The battle continues but the mice have been blocked from re-entry. I have regained some sleep and in this episode a look at phobias, which are indeed an anxiety disorder.

A lot of people have phobias, at least 19 million and counting. Most people cope just fine because they do not come into contact with the object of fear. But once you know what is going on you can deal with it.

Sleep paralysis is the inability to move muscles in your body while between completely falling asleep or waking up. In addition to not being able to move you might see people, aliens or beings in your bedroom.

And yes, this is a medical condition. If you have an anxiety disorder you might be prone to having it pop up.

Everybody take a chill, either in a pool, in a theater or in a park; hopefully without an electronic device. We all have anger and if you have an anxiety or panic disorder you might not even know that you are ticked off angry.

Untreated anger can cause all kinds of physical and mental problems. So even if you think this doesn't apply to you give a listen so you will know where to go when the other person invokes a spark or two in you.
